StepGrid (ATR-step, never sells below cost)

What it does: Buys each time price falls one step and sells each lot one step higher, never below cost. This buys every time the price falls one step below the last buy, and sells each lot one step above where it was bought. It never sells a lot below its cost including fees. The step can follow the normal 1-hour price swing (ATR).

Style: Grid · Difficulty: Intermediate · Risk: medium · Ready: 0 of 1 variants

When people use it: It tends to work in volatile sideways markets.

Where it struggles: It struggles in long declines: it doesn't take a loss, but your money is stuck in held coins until the price returns, which may take a long time.

Markets it was written for: BTC, ETH (spot). Timeframes: Step from 1h ATR.

How it works (as shown in the app)

  • This buys every time the price falls one step below the last buy, and sells each lot one step above where it was bought. It never sells a lot below its cost including fees. The step can follow the normal 1-hour price swing (ATR).
  • It tends to work in volatile sideways markets.
  • It struggles in long declines: it doesn't take a loss, but your money is stuck in held coins until the price returns, which may take a long time.
  • Worst-case money needed = max buys x amount per step. Spot only.
  • Coming later: this version needs the grid module, which Apathia doesn't have yet, so it can't be imported or run today.
  • You can't change the step size (in ATR) here yet; the grid module stores the step as a text rule, not a number.

Warnings

  • None yet: it can't be added.
