Safety-Order DCA (spot, R7)¶
What it does: Buys a dip, then buys more at set steps lower to improve the average price. This opens a first order when hourly RSI drops below 35 (heavy recent selling), unless the price is below its 200-day average.
Style: DCA · Difficulty: Intermediate · Risk: high · Ready: 0 of 1 variants
When people use it: It tends to work on dips inside uptrends and in sideways markets, where the price comes back.
Where it struggles: It struggles in long crashes that go past the last safety order. Because each order is larger, the money needed grows quickly: with the default settings, the total is about 21.8 times the first order.
Markets it was written for: BTC, ETH only. Timeframes: Base signal 1h; trend veto 1d.

Coming later
This needs safety-order DCA (adding to a position as the price moves against it), a feature that's coming. You can read how it will work, but you can't add it to your strategies yet.
Settings
| Setting | Default | Editable | What changing it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Safety orders | 6 | No: coming later | How many extra buys it makes as the price falls. More orders cover deeper drops but multiply the money needed; fewer need less money but run out sooner in a crash. |
| First step % | 1.5 | No: coming later | How far the price must fall before the first safety order. Smaller adds sooner and more often; larger waits for deeper dips and covers a wider fall with the same number of orders. |
| Step scale | 1.3 | No: coming later | How much the gap between orders grows each time. Higher spreads later orders further apart, covering deeper drops; 1.0 keeps every gap equal. |
| Volume scale | 1.5 | No: coming later | How much bigger each safety order is than the one before. Higher pulls the average price down faster but makes the total money needed grow much faster; 1.0 keeps every order the same size. |
How it works (as shown in the app)
- This opens a first order when hourly RSI drops below 35 (heavy recent selling), unless the price is below its 200-day average.
- If the price keeps falling, it places up to 6 'safety orders', each further below and larger than the last, so your average price drops. It sells everything at a 1.5% profit from that average.
- It tends to work on dips inside uptrends and in sideways markets, where the price comes back.
- It struggles in long crashes that go past the last safety order. Because each order is larger, the money needed grows quickly: with the default settings, the total is about 21.8 times the first order.
- This is sometimes called martingale-style averaging: losses are rare but can be large when they come. An optional stop 8% below the last safety order is suggested.
- Spot only (no leverage). BTC and ETH are the suggested markets.
- Coming later: this version needs the DCA (safety-order) module, which Apathia doesn't have yet, so it can't be imported or run today.
Warnings¶
- None yet: it can't be added.
Good to know¶
- It can't be added yet, so it can't be backtested or traded. This page shows how it is planned to work; details may change before it ships.
