Install on a Mac

Install Docker Desktop, download Apathia, and open the UI. The same steps work on Intel Macs and Apple Silicon.

1. Install Docker Desktop

Install Docker Desktop for Mac. Open Docker Desktop and wait until it is running. Leave it open while you use Apathia.

2. Download Apathia

Download the package from the Download page and unzip it (double-click the file in Finder).

Open the unzipped folder. You want the folder that contains docker-compose.yml. If you only see another folder, open that one.

3. Open Terminal in that folder

1. Open Terminal (Applications → Utilities → Terminal).
2. Type cd with a space after it. Do not press Enter yet.
3. Drag the folder that contains docker-compose.yml from Finder onto the Terminal window.
4. Press Enter.

4. Start Apathia

docker compose up --build

The first build takes a few minutes. Leave this window open. Closing it stops Apathia.

When the app is up, open http://localhost:8000. The first start creates secret keys in data/ next to the app.
