Safety-Order DCA (futures long/short)¶
What it does: Opens a futures position on a signal and adds to it as price moves against it. Very high risk. DCA (dollar-cost averaging) here means: open a first order on a signal, then add 'safety orders' each time the price moves further against you, so your average entry price improves. It closes everything at a 1.5% profit measured from that average.
Style: DCA · Difficulty: Advanced · Risk: very high · Ready: 0 of 2 variants
When people use it: It tends to work in sideways markets, where dips come back.
Where it struggles: It struggles badly when the price keeps trending against the position. Each add makes the position bigger and moves the liquidation price closer.
Markets it was written for: BTC, ETH perps. Timeframes: Base signal 1h.
Long (perp)¶
Opens a futures position on a signal and adds to it as price moves against it. Very high risk.

Coming later
This needs safety-order DCA (adding to a position as the price moves against it) and funding fees in futures results, features that are coming. You can read how it will work, but you can't add it to your strategies yet.

| Max leverage | 3 | No: coming later | The most leverage the bot may use. Higher means a smaller move against you can liquidate the position, and every safety order brings that point closer. Lower is safer but needs more margin. |
| Safety orders | 4 | No: coming later | How many times it adds to a losing position. More orders survive deeper moves and pull the average price closer, but put much more money at risk and move liquidation closer with each one. Fewer keeps the position small but runs out of adds sooner. |
How it works (as shown in the app)
- DCA (dollar-cost averaging) here means: open a first order on a signal, then add 'safety orders' each time the price moves further against you, so your average entry price improves. It closes everything at a 1.5% profit measured from that average.
- It tends to work in sideways markets, where dips come back.
- It struggles badly when the price keeps trending against the position. Each add makes the position bigger and moves the liquidation price closer.
- Futures charge funding fees on the full position size, which grows with every add.
- A hard stop-loss is strongly recommended. Apathia will warn you if there isn't one but won't stop you.
- This is rated very high risk. On isolated margin, if the price moves far enough against you the exchange closes the position (liquidation) and you lose the margin you put into it.
- Long version: opens when hourly RSI drops below 35 (heavy recent selling), skipped when the price is below its 200-day average. Adds up to 4 times, the first 2% below entry, each further apart and larger.
- Suggested leverage is at most 3x. On isolated margin, at 3x the exchange closes the position (liquidation) if the price moves about 33% against you, and you lose the margin you put into it. Keep your stop well inside that.
- Coming later: this version needs the DCA (safety-order) module and funding-fee tracking, which Apathia doesn't have yet, so it can't be imported or run today.
Short (perp) - most dangerous¶
Opens a futures short on a signal and adds to it as price rises against it. The most dangerous setup here.

- This is the most dangerous setup in the library: prices can rise without limit, and each add brings liquidation closer. Some other bot platforms don't allow short DCA at all.
- Suggested leverage is at most 2x. On isolated margin, at 2x the exchange closes the position (liquidation) if the price moves about 49.7% against you, and you lose the margin you put into it. Keep your stop well inside that.
